PRINTHAUS TUTORS

 

Jude Lau is an artist, printmaker and co-founding director of Printhaus. She has over 15 years of experience of commission-based print work and delivering print workshops with individuals, groups and institutions. 

Why printmaking? 

Screenprinting in particular for me - it’s definitely one of the more physical and labour intensive of the print processes. But thats what I like about it, it’s never stagnant. 

Jamie Richards is an illustrator, printmaker and studio technician for The Printhaus, He specialises in the lengthier process of Relief printmaking, more specifically Lino printing honing in on themes of florals, botanicals, nature and Welsh Heritage. 

 

Q/ Why printmaking?

Inspired by process, printmaking has got it all! Methodical process are my bread and butter due to their mindful characteristics. 

Tom Whitehead is a screenprinter with 20 years experience and co-founding director of Printhaus. He specialises in textiles screenprinting and art-working for print. Tom has extensive experience of merchandising.

Q/ Why printmaking? 

A “Prototype 21” T-shirt inspired me to get into designing and printing my own T-shirts. I’ve carried on doing that.

Helen Bellamy is a printmaker and ceramicist based in Cardiff, and has been a member of the PrintHaus for 15 years. With a background in textile design and children’s interiors with her company Nelly’s treasures, Helen’s current work is full of colour and fun. She has been teaching workshops for 18 years and loves seeing other’s creativity bloom, especially when working with children.

Why printmaking? 

I love the layering of colours, the quality of the ink on paper and getting lost in the process. Printmaking is the best!

Gavin Mitchell is a comic book artist and printmaker, with over 15 years of experience in comics publishing and illustration.

Why printmaking? 

Apart from getting to play on a riso and always learning something new, it has one of the most welcoming communities in the arts.
